I got so many back-dated entries that are just waiting for me to upload! Anyway last weekend we spent celebrating Faz Bday. He’s the current Mr October in the Asiaone Face of the Month. So hahaha we must of cos go support him :) I even rushed down straight from filming. Oh for this shoot I was helping out backstage, for a change I wasn’t acting. Hmmm more about this in my subsequent entries!



Anyway it’s a pity there was a downpour so we never really got to sit down and talk much to Faz. Here we are - me, Christina and Justin – underneath a shelter waiting for the rain to end.



Thankfully we managed to run off to meet Yi Hua at Macs. There, I was entertained by Thomas and Justin discussing about interesting anatomical issues. Yes when there is a doctor in the house, the conversations become most unconventional! From how ladies have to do mammograms to er… better not talk about the rest. Hahahha u get the drift! Small talk is never boring with Yi Hua!



And I got a firsthand experience of Justin’s incredible sales skills as he and Thomas inked a deal within minutes. I’m impressed, he got this signing pad in this bag. He’s like Doraemon! Damn good sweet-talker. If I actually start my own business, I must ask Justin to lead my sales team liao! N Yi Hua to invest! Yi Hua, by your request, I help u chronicle this momentuous event! Now you can remember it forever!

I had so many Birthday celebrations over the last few days that it’s hard to squeeze all the entries together. So I’ll start with the wonderful gathering I had with the dudes from Men2007! Christina, our pageant organizer, intro-ed us to this restaurant, Wine Garage at Riverside Point. OMG, the food was excellent. I had a wonderful tenderloin and the rest took this specially seasoned Snapper which was great.  I invited Cale to join us for dinner and Cale gave us a free lesson on dining etiquette and some tips on a lot of stuff like poise and makeup for men!

Clarence was very nice to be the unofficial photographer that day so I managed to get these nice shots from him. Hahahhaha we went all around the place taking lots of pics.


Yes I know this is not a flattering shot of me, but it was so funny and I couldn't resist putting it in here! Here are all of us before the competition having a picture taken with Cale, our deportment teacher from Carrie. She taught us so much, now I finally realize all the errors I made in my earlier pageants.

Hahaha I know Cherlyn will complain about the way I walk if I do her shows now. Hahaha no one walks like they’re on the runway in films :)

Anyway since I probably won’t get to post any new pics until I get my connection fixed. Might as well state the result now! I got the title of Mr Personality. I’m quite surprised cos I really didn’t expect this one. Got to thank all the rest cos this is actually a congeniality prize, the other contestants voted for me to win this award. Thanks guys, it means a lot to me!

 

This Saturday and Sunday will be the big day liao. Time for us to strut on stage once again. As usual competitions always give me an adrenaline rush.



I will be taking part in the Men 2007 exhibition held at Suntec Exhibition Hall 404 as one of the contestants in the Style Transformation Makeover Competition.

The whole exhibition is pretty cool. It’s all about Men (the ladies don’t get it this time), grooming and the works. So u can check out how to make yourself look better than you already are! If you are not inclined to care about that though, there’s free Tiger beer going round :) Oh I hope it’s the Super Cold Tiger.

If I recall the schedule correctly, my turn on stage will be from 1700 to 1800 on both days. But you’ll probably get to see me before that cos they put our hair and make-up booth right in the middle of the entire exhibition hall. Hahahaha yes u get to see us prepping :)

Today we had to go down to St James to check out the Tiger Live Experience. It was part of the events we did as part of this competition. Anyway it was pretty good. I was expecting a few memorabilia but it was something altogether…

I got a call yesterday. It was totally unexpected. I’ve been invited to this company’s DnD party.

Basically they are having a pageant and they are picking their own Mr and Miss Personality. What’s my purpose there, noooo not to stand around in a skimpy swimming trunks….. I’ve been asked if I would like to help with the judging. So I will be one of the 3 judges at the pageant. The main judge would be Audrey, my judge and fashion consultant for my first pageant. Oh now I better start thinking of my wardrobe, if I dress crappily, Audrey might kill me! Hahaha. I wonder if I have to wear my "Mr Personality" sash again!



Oh I’m surprised I actually got a use out of my own title so far. Hmm anyway I’m sure the pageant contestants will have more personality than me. Hahaha like my friends say, I’m totally devoid of any.

Anyway I’ve been asked to recommend a third judge. Who shall I suggest to them?

This is the banner that Wendy specially made for my finals. OMG U can’t believe how touched I was when I saw a banner with my name on it in the whole sea of audience. I almost teared on stage. It was pretty emotional for me. I really dunno how to thank Wendy and all my classmates for cheering so much for me during the finals.

I feel so fortunate to have friends like them!!! They are the best pals in the world that I could ask for.

Still haven’t gotten the pics from my fellow contestants so I’ll just give a review of the finals without their pics. This is us before the finals. Hahaha and me in make-up. OMG that night I can’t believe how much make-up I had. Super thick lor. And my hair was sooooo hard with clay and gel that I think it would be untouched in a hurricane. 

     

Anyway the procedure of the competition went like this. We first made our ingress down the steps of the stage in pairs. And then we proceeded to intro ourselves. After that, we watched the clips of ourselves in the previous tasks. OMG I look damn himbo lor. Hahahaha onli good at flashin biceps and not doin anything else. Hahaha practically everything I said during filming wasn’t shown on the screen. And for all my tasks they keep commenting on it. Oh well, I guess it makes for good tv so no matter. 

Hahaha but there were so many scenes of me in my trunks fooling around in the pool. Hahahaha so can see me and Lilian sharing chicken essence together, playing in the pool, sipping from the same coconut and finally shampooing each other’s hair in the final shots. Damn gao siao lor hahahaha. But ok lah. Ignatius end up lookin damn himbo also lor. Talking to customers by saying they chio hahahaha. And Charissa very cute, hitting on guys in her clips. 

After that they gave out the prizes. Lionel and Shauna won best smile, Willy and Charissa won best hair and Charissa also won the most popular award. So steady. Den anyway they selected the finalists who proceeded to do a skit and the results were for gals in 3rd place to 1st place are Lindy, Joyce and Shauna. For guys, YY, Alvin and Willy. Congrats to them, they deserve it after we went through so much torture together. 

    

Anyway these are my outfits for the night, these pics were taken during my fitting a few days ago. I really like the second Zara outfit. 

At the end I found out my overall position was 4th! Wow and Bernard, one of the Giant top ppl said that this competition had 6000 applicants this year. OMG I actually ended up as 4th out of 6000 ppl. I’m so amazed. 



Rebecca is so cool. She's so funny and I'm really glad to have met her. Both of us have never joined any competitions before so its very nice to just learn new stuff together.



This is my pic with Lilian in our respective final outfit. I had such a great time with her and I think I couldn’t have gone through as far as I could without her constant encouragement. I wish her all the best :)

 

Met up with Charles earlier for lunch. Wow Charles is incredible, he helped me rewrite my intro speech to one that is truly amazing. Thanks dude. I think he should go into script writing for Mediacorp, his Chinese is zai lor. 

We had rehearsals in the evening. Anyway here is the stage, and the second pic shows all the crazy lighting that they have at the top of the place. the third pic shows the stairs that we have to walk down and the last pic shows the backsatge where we await out turn to climb the stairs.

   

It really is scary even facing an empty audience. I think it really takes a lot of guts to face a full audience. Basically nothing much to say except we practiced a lot on the positions that we are going to take tomolo. I hope I won’t fall off the stairs while walking down. Hahahaha, that will be so paiseh. But maybe can gain sympathy points if I say tat although I’m in pain I will still go through the night hahahaha. 

I think I better get an earli night. Stress siah…..

 

Last Saturday we went for a hotel retreat at the Holiday Inn Atrium as part of the preparation for the competition. It’s the hotel whose entire façade is made of glass. Hmm I always wondered how they dealt with greenhouse effect. Hahaha but I supposed to be a himbo in this competition so better not talk about science. :) 

   

Anyway we had to bring lots of clothes to the hotel. Audrey wanted to see our wardrobe so that she could give us advice on how to improve it. So I brought the clothes in my wardrobe that best fit the colours she suggested for me as well as some of my more interesting outfits. The first thing we did that day was to learn more about our body shape as well as all our measurements to aid in buying clothes later. So what I learnt is that I got the broadest shoulders of everyone in this competition but my chest slightly smaller than Ignatius hahahaha he need support from the chamisole more than me. Anyway I got a triangular shaped body with sloping shoulders and also extremely long legs. Hahaha that sounds like I’m some kinda alien. 



After that Audrey appraised my wardrobe and her suggestion was that I need for formal clothes, I need thick stripes as well as cut away collars so that my size is not compressed and I look even smaller. I could also do with pants with chalk stripes for variety. 

  

Following which we booked into our rooms. I shared mine with Lionel. It’s a nice simple room that was very comfortable. I mean there’s hardly any time that we really stayed in the room so can’t comment on it much. :) 

   

After lunch at the buffet restaurant, we went for a shopping spree at Paragon where Audrey helped us with shopping. I got a full suit from Domanchi. Hahahaha spent a lot lor, but I really like the suit. Gonna need to run IPPT soon to get money to pay for it. :) Audrey was really very nice; helped all of us find suitable clothes that would best suit our personalities as well as pick out accessories that could match all kinds of outfits. And she secured great discounts for our clothes, so I managed to save almost a hundred bucks. Advice to ladies, get a silver brooch on a long chain. That can be used in a myriad of ways – as a necklace, a belt, or wound around the hand as a bracelet. 

     

We had dinner at the hotel’s Chinese restaurant, Xin Cuisine. I can’t remember how many course dinner it was but there was an interesting dish –spinach soup with seafood. I thought it looked dangerous – so green lor, like my koi pond when I never wash the filters for a long time. Hahaha but it was very good, and I hate spinach so you can tell how amazing the dish was. 



Ok will cover the night activities later. Now need to go out and enjoy myself :) Will put more pics once I get them from the rest.

 

Audrey also teached us about Colour Analysis. How to harmonize colours to bring out the greatest visual impact and make us look good.
Colours have many aspects – undertone, depth and clarity.

Undertone
Basically every colour has a “warm” and “cool” side to it. To make things simple, people that are very fair should pick clothes that are more “cool” and avoid white to avoid the “washed-out” look. On the other hand, people that are very dark should tend to go for the “warm colours”. To identify colours, those that are more bluish are “cool” while those that are more yellow are “warm”. For example these two purples, warm and cool.

Clothes have to complement (1) Skin tone, (2) Hair colour and (3) Eye colour. 
Hahaha and that is my big problem. Cause according to Audrey, my hair colour shouts “warm” while my skin colour is “cool”. I’m a walking contradiction. That’s the reason why I had to redye my hair. Anyway she was saying I totally cannot do bad guy roles cos I look too good boy liao, it’s only because of my build and my hair that’s why I do gangster roles for Mediacorp :) 



With regard to hair colour and eye colour, blue eyes, blond hair, brown hair are considered “cool” while Auburn, copper red hair colours are considered ‘warm”.

Of course a person might like a colour that is not suited for him, so Audrey was saying it’s alright if the colour is not too close to the face where the greatest contrast can be seen.

Even for accessories there are “cool” and “warm”. “Cool” gold is Italian gold while “warm” gold is the bright Indian gold.

Depth
Colours can also be deep or light. For example, white and black are both “cool” colours but white is considered the lightest and black the deepest “cool” colours. For the warm spectrum, the lightest is beige while the deepest is brown.

Clarity
Colours can be muted or bright. Muted colours are the ones that look faded. Think maybe old denim. Normally it’s better not to take muted colours but since I am “cool”; I can still carry off muted “warm” reds. Also on TV, brighter colours are needed.

These are colours that everyone can wear – Ivory, Medium grey, Taupe, Medium Navy, Dark Chocolate, Medium Purple, Buff, Salmon, Teal, Periwinkle, Turquoise and Watermelon. There are also pastel colours that one can choose in place of muted colours which are also suitable for work. Slim people should not wear black unless formal occasions. Also if a person is tall, he may choose to wear contrasting colours from top to bottom so as to cut the body in half.

One should derive joy from dressing up. And never forget that you are forever being judged based on what you wear. 

     

We also went to choose from her cornucopia of colours samples to mix and match a new wardrobe. She challenged us to come up with new schemes for ourselves based on what she prescribed to us. I had to design myself a new shirt. So this is what I came up with. A “cool” red jacket to go with a “muted” yellow shirt. And also a simple shirt with a “muted” yellow base and lilac and muted blue stripes. Hmmm I seem to really like muted colours :)

Anyway these are the colours that Audrey recommended for me to wear. I need “cool” colours so that they would not contrast too much with my orangey skin colour and also I can take deep colours as I have a larger build. 



Siao liao, most of my wardrobe not suitable. All different colours. Hahaha. Anyway if you got similar skin colour to me den u can also choose these colours. Steady anyone wanna join me shopping for a new wardrobe?

 

Ok anyway the day before we did filming for the first task which is the shopping for scenario challenge. Here I am with my number tag hahahahaha. 



Anyway so basically we went around lookin for barang to get for our task which is the “Office to Sports Game” scenario. We needed to pick up 6 items from the sponsors list. Anyway out of them, 3 items would be more focused on TV. Anyway I think I was nervous cos we had to rush due to lack of time so I stuttered a bit on the camera. At least Lilian covered it quite well. :)

Basically we were trying to portray a working couple who likes to make fun of each other. But anyway nothing much to be said about the whole shopping thing. I think my Chinese is atrocious hahahaha. I wonder how different it would be if this show was shot in English instead. Would probably be a lot more fun and I could probably be a lot more expressive. No need to do mental translation. :)

After that we headed to the Civil Service Club for filming of the scenarios. They paired two groups to each camera crew so M3F3 and us were paired together. They also had their picnic scenario by the pool. Very strange place to have a picnic right? Anyway basically our nothing much to set-up like the rest. We just basically put our products on a chair and strewn some flowers in front of it.

Here I am taking pics of me in the toilet cos I needed to check if my body is toned enough for the shoot later. Ignatius and me were basically doing crunches and push-ups in the toilet to get ready for our respective shots. Hahahaha I am so glad I went to the gym the day before. . Now u see how stress it is being a guy? (Too bad this competition no prize for best bod. Else me and Ignatius can fight for that!!)

   

For the shoot, they wanted us to share chicken essence before the shoot and then after that we stripped in front of the camera (Yes, I have become a stripper on TV hahahaha) and went into the pool. I managed to borrow a big float ring so Lilian could float in it while I swam around her. Den after that we swam to the side of the pool to drink coconut juice. At first I bought two coconuts but ended up that the producers all eyeing the coconuts so we gave them one to drink while we shared the other one :)

Following which, we both stepped out of the pool where we exchanged gifts (the sponsor’s products). At first I was supposed to put a flower into Lilian’s hair but the orchids didn’t have a stalk long enough for me to do so. Sian. Anyway then we grabbed the Silkpro shampoo and headed to the water playground. There the final scene showed us playing in the playground and ended with us lathering each other’s hair with Silkpro as the water cascaded around us. Hahahaha 



It was fun. I think everyone loved their shoot. Oh well, the next time I will meet them will be for the hotel retreat. Can’t wait for it.

 

These two days spent discussing with my group about the Giant Star tasks. On the 3^rd I got to come up with a marketing plan to promote 4 products of Giant’s with M4 Alwyn and M6 Lionel. Den we got to promote the products at IMM Giant next Wednesday. Oh yah I no longer promoting the Chamisole liao. My 4 products are Nugeno Men’s Face Lifting Cream, Palmolive Aromatherapy Shower Gel, Darlie All Shiny White and Silkpro Shampoo.

 

So much work. Spent the last few nights with very little sleep cos got to do my FYP poster and have to do the ppt for my marketing plan. Anyway we went for a big and grandiose affair. Hope it works out. I even put in ideas that I learnt from watching the Apprentice. My greatest worry is presenting in Chinese.

 

Anyway for my other task I will be teamed up with F5 Lilian and we will be having a scenario to fulfill. We got to shop at giant to get the stuff to do the scenario. Ok I’ll roughly go through the scenarios:

M2 and F2: High School Reunion

M3 and F3: Family Picnic

M4 and F4: Inner Wear Model Audition

M5 and F5: After Work Going For A Sports Game

M6 and F6: Birthday Party

 

So Lilian and I were thinking if we were to come after Alwyn and Lindy who got inner wear, we better not be boring. Must trump them in terms of visual impact. Hence we suggested that for the sports game, we do swimming. But we trying to show off our active image not slezy hor, SO dun expect sleazy backrubs hahahahaha. Mediacorp now settling for us the location of our swimming scenes. But not finalized yet hor. So we may not do swimming in the end.

 

Anyway we went to Giant yesterday to look for the items we gonna get for the task. It was quite nice shopping around with Lilian. Oh some ppl at Giant recognized us, quite paiseh lor. Hahahha. Anyway we had dinner together at Secret Recipe. Went for a Tom Yum Calzone and a Lasagne and finished off with my favourite cake the White Chocolate Macadamia Cake. Oh I just love that cake. It’s to die for. 

  

And Lilian also same as me, we just love desserts. Sigh so seldom can find a gal who loves desserts as much as me. And according to Audrey, we got very pointed faces. I got a heart-shaped face while Lilian’s got a triangular face. N she said I got the sharpest face of everyone lor (I better not use the Nugeno Facelift Cream liao, later wait my chin become so sharp I’ll kill anyone I kiss hahahah). Hmmm she’s a Libra and I’m a Gemini. According to her, this horoscopes are very compatible to be friends. Haha is this the reason Mediacorp paired us up together?

For the second day of the pdt training, we started off the day with Audrey teaching us more stuff about colour analysis, hairstyling tips and dressing styles. Also about face shapes and wat changes we need to do with our hair. I’ll talk about all that in another post cos it’s interesting and deserves a post of its own.

 

After lunch, it was back to psychotic cramming of info in our heads again. Today we had product training on: Dettol Shower Foam, Eversoft Total Defence Instant Lifting Serum, Biore Natural Scrub, Shokobutsu Facial Foam, New Moon Essence of Chicken, Darlie All Shiny White Toothpaste and Sabina Camisole set.

 

I remember tat I stressed the Darlie ppl, cos I remember that one of my profs, Lim Chee Teck did a study on whitening of teeth so I had a lot of background knowledge. Anyway Darlie proved that their product is safer on teeth so tat’s a good thing to know. (Especially since I love using Darlie at home). I also asked them about comparisons between Triclosan Dentrite and Sodium Fluoride on teeth cleaning power. Hope they not dulan with me.

 

As usual we got a whole plethora of freebies from every sponsor, except the Sabina Camisole. Haha that one u give me sample also I dunno wat to do with it. I got a total education on cup sizes and different bras for a lady. Hahahaha info overload. Some of the bras are very big lor. Most of the products I have to promote to both sexes but this one how to sell to guys? Hmmm maybe some guys need support too. Hahaha Charles got bigger chest den me, Charles U need better support else if old den sag no good hahahahaha :)

  

 

New Moon also gave their chicken essence and bird’s nest which I passed to my mum for her expert opinion. Better not say her verdict of whether Brand’s or New Moon tastes better. Scarely got either company’s executive seeing my blog now. Also got two sets of Eversoft’s whole set of Instant Lifting Serum range and it supposedly works like Botox to help u recover your youth. Anyone wanna try? We got to rub on our hands, hahaha now I got one smoother hand liao :) It’s actually quite effective. But I never try on my face. I passed to my mum, I’ll let u know if my mum ends up lookin younger den my sister hahahahaha.
