| Looking at this picture, I was inspired to make a new boardgame! Check out Shark Bait. Just think of it as Survivor on a little yacht that is being ripped apart by Jaws. Yeah who’s gonna be shark bait to keep the rest safe? I tried something innovative by using clear acrylic for each of the sections of the board so the shark traverses underwater and you can see his happy smile as he rips up parts of the boat! It's still in its prototype stage so I am fieldtesting before i make it more beautiful. Can’t wait to try it out with friends! Munchie munchie!

| It was a long night of hectic filming on Friday and hahahaha I think I was looking half-dead most of the night… Anyway straight after filming I rushed off to Nic’s place to be his brother at his wedding. Yup, my first taste at being a brother. I dun have any pics yet cos Nic and Claris aren’t releasing the pics online. Yup so I got saboed…. Hmmm wasabi laced bittergourd actually was quite tasty…. I hope there are no pics of my pathetic dancing. I got to say Claris gown was stunning. A train that is even longer than I am tall. The church floors became so clean in her aftermath. Heeeeee the church wedding was so touching. I was very happy to see my friends finally tie the knot after so long. I’ll talk abt my first time being a wedding planner for the dinner in another entry…. Hope to get pics first. Anyway I made this game for them. Yeah it’s based on the trials and tribulations a couple would go to get married. Chronicling 4 stages – courtship, wedding prep, the wedding day itself and the honeymoon. I hope Nic and Claris enjoy this little pressie! Heee now my friends can have a personalized wedding game to remember their big day!

| Previously I created this game "The Disney Film" Game where each player creates their own Disney Movie. It’s been a pretty big success so far. Pretty much all the feedback I got is good except from one friend who complained that she waited one whole game to get Simba and he got taken out by the Big Bad Wolf as soon as she played him. Hahahahaha Anyway after discussions with my good friends, I decided to start making my next game… This will be a pretty hefty venture and I hope that my friends will spare me their time to try it out. I wonder if I can find someone who has experience making games too.... or would love to make their own game! Would love to have more input! Oh yes and anyone interested to try the Disney game can look for me too!

| First week of reservist is down! Hmmmm this reservist I seem to be having a lot less sleeping. More waiting for things to happen, I wonder how much time is actually spent waiting! Yes our Army is the “decisive force”! At any rate, it turns out that I’m probably gonna have to wear the “broccoli vomit green” uniform so I am now thinking of what my new camo style should be. My usual is the coconut trees, hmm maybe I must do pixellated coconut trees! I remember there was this Warrant who was going through a revision with us and he was commenting about the amazing capabilities of the SAF uniform: 1. Upon wearing the green uniform, guys immediately cannot do anything when it rains! Hahahaha once u’re out of the green - thunderstorm? Hahahah that won’t stop ur soccer games! 2. No one can sleep when there’s any noise. But put on the green and no matter how noisy the signal set is, everyone can sleep. Only one word wakes everyone up – “Link Up”! Anyone it’s time for me to go in for my second week at reservist and I have packed in more boardgames! Let’s see how Roborally and Red Dragon Inn works with them! P.S. The Disney game worked remarkably, we’ve seen Snow White become a man (aka Mulan) and got thrown out of the game cos Mulan didn’t wanna see a naked man ever again! Oh I am starting to think this game has a lot of weird unexpected effects!

| My reservist friends label me the entertainment rep and it’s time for me to decide what board games to bring in this reservist. It’s 3 weeks so I need to find something suitable to let them try this year. The difficulty resides in bringing games that fit into my bag and games that are easy to teach yet have a lot of humour and can handle many players easily. My initial choices this year will be the mix of the following genres: 1. Playing evil clandestine characters: Saboteur, Shadow Hunters, Bang These games are great for the suspense! Who's on ur side and who's not! 2. Playing evil characters in a bar: Red Dragon Inn (And we’ll use real beer! Let’s see who goes drunk first!) It's my no. 1 game right now! 3. Simple mass player games: Incan Gold Treasure hunting for the whole gang! 4. And of cos my very own Disney Movie Card Game! Other games that have been requested and I am contemplating are: Roborally, Bacchus’ Banquet, Red November and Niagara. I wonder which game will be the breakthrough hit for this reservist! Yup it's my job to make reservist fun for everyone! Does anyone wanna be in my platoon?

| I been playtesting my self-created Disney Film Game with friends and the votes so far are unanimous. Everyone loves it and I got lots of people wanting to get a copy from me. That’s really very encouraging! I remember yesterday I had Cherlyn to try it out and she ended up making a animal planet documentary with loads of animals like Timon and Pumbaa hanging out with Chip and Dale first Under the Sea and then later at the Pride Rock. I remember using the Big Monstro to devastate the entire movie and sent them all to the belly of the great whale. Yup if she likes to shoot a nature documentary, I have to oblige! In the meantime I was shooting a freaking girly flick with Bambi, Cinderella and Belle. Unfortunately for the gals, Cherlyn’s Evil Queen and her new bf Gaston, came to ravage my set, leaving me with an empty set. I felt like I was shooting a Wong Kar Wai Movie. Sob sob! Hahahahhaa it was so fun!

| I just created a cardgame based on three of my favourite genres – Disney Movies, Acting, and Pure Gaming Fun. Welcome to the Disney Film Game. "Everyone’s a director creating their very own Disney movie using cards that represent Disney characters, props, locations, villains and special effects. Direct your own Movie with your favourite cast like Simba and Ariel, and send Ursula to rain havoc on the other Director’s Movies. The game ends when the credit rolls and the Director whose Movie has the highest points wins!" ( Click here to see more about the game! )
It was a game that took two years to make (basically cos I was slacking) But we conceptualised it in late 2007 and then the actual card making took 2 months of many weekends. In case you’re wondering, hahahaha nope it’s not for sale. Hahahhaha I dun want Disney to come after me! So I’m making it for fun.
But I’m looking for playtesters, would love to make a great game for everyone who likes Disney Movies and loves the B-grade Movie series.

| Sometimes I like boardgames where everyone works together for a common goal. No backstabbing, everyone wins or dies together. Synopsis: Red November is a cooperative game in a gnomish attack submarine where everything is going wrong. The sub is descending and the water pressure increasing, the nuclear reactor is overheating, the nuclear missile launchers are pre-igniting, fires and water leaks are everywhere, there's a giant Kraken looming nearby and there’s very little oxygen and vodka left. While the storyline feels more and more like a disaster movie, the players must get organized to solve the problems, divide the tasks among themselves to minimize the risks, and sometimes accept to sacrifice themselves for the common cause.( Sounds easy? You have no idea! )

| I am not accustomed to late nights liao! Ha Had a very nice boardgame session with friends last night at my place. Hahahah and we took out a very ancient boardgame I had, an 18 year old Flying Pirates game! I mentioned it before in my blog previously, but wow it’s like a relief to have really simple ship sinking fun! Old boardgames are really something else altogether! And then it was RockBand! Hahahhaha Claris really loves RockBand and she's a great drummer, Nic and I are her accompanying guiatrist and bass respectively! But wow it was a really long night….

| Ok ok let’s change the tone of the blog for now… I held a boardgame party at my place last weekend for Zhiguang’s bday. Yup yup my boardgame collection can rival any boardgame café anytime. So I brought out 3 games this time. Wings of War, Bacchus’s banquet and Cash & Guns. Wings of War turned out to be a surprisingly good game with my JC pals. Everyone got to control a World War 1 plane and shoot each other down. Hahahahaha here you see Melvin’s Red Baron in hot pursuit of Yuanliang's plane. Bacchus’s Banquet is another sleeper hit of mine where everyone were playing guests at a roman orgy. The food type of orgy, anyway it was interesting to see how evil everyone was.. forcefeeding each other until their character’s tummys went BOOM! To my army friends, this is one of next year’s reservist games! And Cash and Guns. It brings out all the best lines from gang shows like “Infernal Affairs”. Hahaah I think my friends can prob act as gangsters better than I do! Boardgame parties are so fun. I wanna hold another one again! Who’s up for it?

| It’s my 3rd lo hei in 3 days. The first was with my uni classmates, the 2nd was with my extended family and today had it with Cale, Justin and Willy! We spent the morning catching up and here you can see Niao Niao progressing from the fortune telling I taught it to his latest skill – Justin taught Niao Niao to pick up Toto numbers. Niao Niao is really picking up a lot of useful skills :) After that we all headed off to Sentosa KM8 to laze around. Armed with two pitchers of martinis, we went to soak in the sun’s rays. Hahaha when I start smiling like that, it means I'm high! KM8 is a very nice place n for a change, instead of playing beach volleyball, we played my card game - the B-grade movie card game. Today’s movie was named “Ancient King F***s the Goddess of Doom in the Prehistoric Land”. Hahhaaha we all very sian cos our movies were so exciting (Justin’s had so many ppl like a Spielberg production – one asian chick surrounded by natives and a camel, while mine had Jungle Man making out with the Amazon Queen.) But Willy won and his show was all about his dog Skippy!!!! After that we went to the flower show. I’ll report that in my next entry. It deserves an entry all on its own hahahaha. After dinner we went to Justin’s place to play more games. Here I am challenging Justin to Jenga. Erm, let’s not talk about the result (hahahah that should be obvious who won then). I brought everyone's fav Red Dragon Inn and he schemed to make me drunk n cheat CS of his gold :) Oh yah Justin had an mouth ulcer so, CS and I were saying that Justin should just use salt or Listerine. Yes the exquisite pain!!! Hahaahaha we very SM. Anyway he got Watermelon Frost. I was checking up the ingredients list when I noticed this… Active ingredients: Watermelon Frost, Rhizoma Belamcandae, Bulbus Fritillariae Cirrhosae, Radix Sophorae Tonkinensis, Semen Sapindi Mukorossi Preparata, Mentholum, Indigo Naturalis, Borneolum Wait a minute…. Semen??? OMG hahahaha that’s the active ingredient? Hahahaha then actually Justin dun need to buy lor. All men can erm… make their own ulcer cures hahaha! Tomorrow I’ll blog about our naughty adventures in the Sentosa Flower Show! This picture should give a clue of how screwed up the entry is gonna be :) | |

| As usual I like to recommend boardgames that I think will be very cool for my friends. Here is another one of those cute evil back-stabbing games: Tiki Mountain! The game is set on Tiki Island. The islanders worship the Great Volcano God and as the volcano starts causing tremors, the tiki warriors decide that to save the village, they must race to the top of the mountain to be the first warrior to make an offering to the Great Volcano God. The offering being yourself! The lucky warrior will jump into the volcano, get burnt to a crisp and thus appease the Volcano God and save the village.

| Everyone knows how much I love boardgames and it’s really hard to find something unique nowadays. I chanced upon this rare gem – Red Dragon Inn. It’s about a group of the usual dungeon-bumbling adventurers but this takes place after they have vanquished their foe and stolen the gold and are back at an inn to chill out. So basically the adventure’s over but the fun now begins. There's Zot, the crafty mage with his half-demonic pet rabbit Pookey. Gerki's the sneaky pickpocket whose sleeves are filled with poisons. Fiona is a tough-but-dim warrior maiden. And finally, Deirdre the elven priestess, whose goddess keeps her safe from villains. The 4 archetypes would be trying to sneak away with the other players’ gold through a variety of ways. Buying drinks and making them drunk, or through gambling or just plain stealing. And everyone has different personalities and different skills, I think the most funny is the priestess, her goddess protects her from everything but she can’t resist a drink, making it easy to force her to drink herself under the table. Hahahhaa it’s so atypical that it sounds really cool for a reservist boardgame. Gonna try it out tonight with my pals. I wonder who will be the sole survivor. I think I should make a list of reservist-friendly boardgames. Then next reservist my friends can just pick and choose which one I should bring!

| N my B-grade movie games and Saboteur cardgames turned out to be a big hit during the reservist. I thought the best was when we merged the kungfu movie genre with the horror genre. Quek had the most amusing movie “Killer Hitman Battles Evil Darkness”: Some of my pals are now coming to my place this National Day. My home is now becoming a Boardgame Cafe!

| It's been a while since I talked about my interest for games. I recently got a very innovative card game which I have tried with my pals. Basically this game exploits the clichés of really bad b-grade movies by allowing you to direct your very own b-grade sci-fi horror movie. You get to be your own director. Presenting the "Grave Robbers from Outer Space"! Basically it involves drawing cards to select your cast, giving them props to protect while sending horror monsters to terrorize the other players’ movies. And all the time, you can have special effects to spice up the movie.

| Saturday was fun. I had a short gym session with Guang and Weibing. Basically just tried to show them some of the new stuff that I have been trying out during my regular gym sessions. I realize that it’s pretty fun sharing what I know. Hmmmm maybe I can have another part-time job as Personal Trainer? After that we met up with Mel and Xuelun and had Zi Char for dinner before heading to my place where I hosted some more Boardgame sessions. Hmmmm I realize now that the best games to intro to new gamers would be: 1. Niagara 2. Cleopatra 3. Roborally 4. Giza 5. Holiday 6. Settlers Others with niche appeal: Arkham Horror, A Game of Thrones, Twilight Imperium, Terrace, Hotel, Ticket to Ride, Carcassonne and RuneBound. Must start looking for other suitable games that have mass appeal. Anyway I have already targeted my next acquisition. It should be interesting to host that game soon. Who will end up being my playtesters?

| So anyway after YY’s party, I rushed back to Sentosa to welcome my second group of friends for another night of boardgames. Welcome Qingqiang, Liying, Timothy and Minghan to my parlor.
