Slayer - Prologue

Yup I just received the DVD for my latest project "Slayer". Even the main menu is cool!

Synopsis:
When a young average girl (Laura) stumbles upon a man dressed in white (Fazrin) bleeding to death, she proceeds to help him.
Unaware of what she has gotten herself into, a man dressed in black (Victor) is out to hunt them down.
Here is where she gets caught into a twisted personal war...

Finished one side of filming

Finished filming the Channel 8 drama which should open next CNY. Hahahaha my last day was really packed, practically all my scenes in the later half of the show were shot on that day.

Also did a scene where I get arrested by the CID, as before, one of the CID was wearing the CID pass with my face on it hahahaha. But the more memorable part of the day was when I tripped on the ground and a female CID went to arrest me. Cos I was sweating, she couldn’t grab a hold of me and she ended up jabbing her nails into my biceps!!!!
Now I got a scar on my biceps hahahaha – everyone was saying I confirm picked up the wrong gal, and got into some happening nights….

Got to work with many actors that I didn’t have a chance to before – like Xiang Yun. Got to say that she’s really a pleasure to work with – no airs and she just chats with everyone on set, regardless of who u are, especially the extras. Must learn to be more personable like her!

Whew! Learnt a few more things on this shoot to remember in my increasing list of acting dos and do-nots:

There was a scene hey shot me with a new camera angle – overhead and slightly above me. I was speaking on a phone and they had to keep reminding me to look up while speaking.Otherwise the camera cannot capture my face – yup it’s a habit, I look down when I speak on phone or to others (usually because of my height).
I’ve been described to have a pageant posture when I walk n talk, so I tried to change my posture for this role - hunch more, loosen my shoulders, more gestures. But when camera is taking an over shoulder shot, I need to remember not to move so much – distracts from the focus.
N open eyes wider, have the tendency to narrow my eyes habit when I talk n react, while that is not so bad in closeups, n anything from two-shots to wide shots, my eyes cannot be seen by the camera. :)

OK I must remember to correct these habits for my future projects...

With the amount of Malay dialogue I’m memorizing, I think after this show, I’ll be trilingual!

CCTVs in the Toilet?

Heeeeee this is my new wardrobe for an upcoming Suria drama! Got watch sponsor too! Yup yup, I’m doing my first Suria project.

It’s definitely interesting working in a different language. While my character speaks English, he is supposed to understand Malay. So I have to memorise all the Malay phrases that is spoken to me! Tough siah!

Oh the school we’re filming at has very interesting slogans within the toilet cubicle. On one side, U can learn about the wise teachings of LKY and Ghandi.

On the other hand, u can read that the CCTVs are recording good behavior! Wahhhh when I read that I was checking to see if there are really CCTV cameras hidden in the toilet!

So scary! Must pee carefully, eyes are on u!

Angel's Symphone (3)

Travis and Michael are now at the meeting place waiting for John to come with their latest goods. However John is late for once and Michael is getting excessively exasperated. It occurs to Travis that Michael might be the snitch but a look from Michael prompts him to shut up.

Flash back to where John is back listening to the CID agent – The agent states that they have everything they need to indict Travis and Michael. They only need to trap the two of them and John can be let off and they will have witness protection, clear records, freedom and and a new life with Lucy..

However John refuses to help. As long as he is in jail, nothing bad will happen to Lucy. And he knows that if he helps the police, they will do worse to her. He does not believe they can promise this to him.

Lucy is now at home being comforted by her friend, Amanda. Amanda tells her to forget John – “an ex-con will always be an ex-con”.

While Michael is trying to call John, Travis points his gun, firmly believing that Michael is the snoop and this is his chance to deal with everyone and take the triumvirate for himself.

Michael tries to convince Travis, but before they could do anything, the cops arrive and they realize only too late that it's a police raid.

Yup John was the one who realized that the only person who could protect Lucy once and for all is himself and he was the one who gave the police all the information they needed and the one who led Michael and Travis into the trap. He knows that more people will be harmed if they are not stopped and he reminds the CID agent of his promise to him.

Finally John goes to meet Lucy. He did not know if anything would go wrong during the raid and so he had to reject her harshly on the phone earlier. But now that everything has been dealt with, he can finally meet her. N to seek her forgiveness… (Wah I got a gigantic bulging vein at my neck)

Lucy thinks about her doubts but then she realises how hard this period has been fro them and what they have gone through and..... Awwwwww

And he relishes in his freedom with these thoughts – ‘A person starts to live when he can live outside himself.’ Freedom. Every human desire. The great Albert Einstein.

Ooooh this must be one of the few films I did where I actually save the girl, get rid of the baddies and have a happy ending.

Angel's Symphony (2)

Continuing from where we ended off, the scene flashes to where John is drinking at a bar alone. Someone calls his name and he turns to see Travis (Alfrei) and Michael (Stefan).

Unable to leave, John is escorted into the lounge where they grill him on why he is let out early but has not met up with them. Thankfully, they are interrupted by the waitress bringing in drinks so he does not have to answer this question.

Michael proceeds to remind John that they were the ones who paid for his education, home and they’re the ones that he should be thankful to. Everything he has is due to his brotherhood and he should return to the triumvirate.

He reaffirms his loyalty to the triad to the pleasure of Michael and Travis. Michael decides to dispatch him on a task – they suspect a mole within the gang, feeding information to the police and they want him to weed out the mole.

Michael distrusts Travis and believes that John would be more trustworthy in this case as he has proven his loyalty by staying mum in jail for so many years and also because they have another handle over him. He also gives John a note to the next meeting point to meet them after he is done. John promises to settle everything for them.

We come back to the interrogation room. Time has past and without any further results, the cop offers John a cigarette.

Then he tells John the latest information they drug out, that he was set up by Travis and Michael those years ago because they believe that he was taking over the organization. With irrefutable evidence before him, John starts to feel conflicted.

Cut back to Lucy who’s getting dolled up for a night out with John when he calls her. He’s unable to make it for dinner, but she suspects something is amiss. She believes that he has gone to meet Travis and Michael and she feels betrayed as they were the ones who scarred her years before. She can’t believe that he would throw away all that they have for a quick buck with those cads.

Angel's Symphony (1)

Finally managed to get one of the short films I did previously….

It’s called Angel’s Symphony and tells the story about how John, an ex-convict, has to choose between his ties to his brotherhood and the woman he loves.

So the story unfolds with John (me) in captivity being interrogated by the CID (Samuel). After years of imprisonment, John refuses to speak to the cops and they’re gonna try the soft approach with food first. John refuses to budge until the cop starts speaking about his wife, Lucy…

And then the scene flashes to John in bed with his wife. After some action, Lucy (Nicole) asks John why he’s allowed to be free from prison early.

She suspects something is amiss but John refuses to say anything. John notices a scar on Lucy’s back, which makes him promise Lucy that he will never let anything bad happen to her again.

Cue back to the interrogation room, John is too famished and is gorging on the bread. The CID starts remarking about how John had graduated with a degree in psychology and did very well in school. How did it go wrong for him….

OK I got to go offline first. Cos my sis wants to use my comp. At any rate, yes this is my first bed scene…. And it was very hot! Because no ventilation in the room hahahaha what did you think?
It was a little awkward at first cos Nicole was lying on top of me, but hahahahaha it was kinda fun too! N noooo no funny business happened!

Acting with myself from 2 years ago!

I had a "Back to the Future" moment, acting with myself from 2 years ago!

I was acting in my latest drama in the Mediacorp studios last night and so amazing, they mocked up a whole coffeeshop within the studio. Previously when I had studio scenes, it’s usually home sets. So I was amazed at how elaborate the setup was:

Even have a Doraemon ride.

And every thing you would expect in a coffeeshop was there. The Pao store had this steamer and hahahaha filled with lots of fake pau, so colourful! N this is the rojak store and it has everything you fully expect there, with the rojak sauce and all the appropriate vege etc.

Now back to the “Back to the Future” moment - while I was doing one of my scenes with Zzen and Garrett, the TV in the coffeeshop was showing scenes from a previous drama, 谜图. N just nice, they were showing scenes I did for that drama. You can see a little of me in the TV screen in this pic below:

Hmmmm considering that I am constantly on the run from police in this show and I’m a CID in that previous drama, hahahahaha does it mean that I’m playing both sides of the law at the same time? At any rate it was interesting to actually do a scene and synchronise it with my self from two years back!

On with the Story!!

Yes Yes, I have finally finished doing all the pics for this long adventure. Yippee!

Everything happened as I mentioned (even though it’s a little hard to believe the number of lucky breaks I got.), the only embellished part has to be the Pai Mei section but I just couln’t resist making such a figure.

Anyway I remember being really stressed most when the platoon was encamped next to me. And a foot really landed right next to where I was hiding. I was thinking, OMG I survived a night in mud and rain, just to die in a firefight when I was so close to the end of it, ahhhhhhh!!!! If he took one more step, I would fire at him. Thankfully, they really walked away… My guardian angel really has a busy job keeping me safe!

Whew I hope you all like it. Now that this is done, the words I have been wanting to say for a long time:

It's back!

Everyone's been asking me when I would finish writing my ATEC story. Well it is written, its just that to do all the comics takes a considerable amount of time. I finally managed to squeeze time to write the next section:

Yup everything that could go bad happened to me then.....

Learning to gamble

I got to say that this drama allowed me to learn a lot of new things – how to gamble!!!!

I learnt how to play baccarat and all kinds of gambling games! It’s all in the name of the role. So fun, yup all the time in between our shots, I will start picking up new tips from the other cast members.

And I’m so glad to get out of my funeral garb! Not surprising my wardrobe for this drama also requires me to show off my arms…. Lucky I didn’t get sun burnt from my other shoot (walking in the hot sun for two days)!

N this is one of the few roles from Matrix where I dun have to fight anyone on a regular basis!

Crying Scene- Stress!!!!

Been involved with filming a new drama for Channel 8. Last Thursday I cleared one of the toughest scenes I ever had – a crying scene.

Yes CRYING!!!! This is my fourth crying scene in my acting career. But would be one of my toughest... So here we are at the funeral scene where my good friend has passed away and I need to tell his mum what happened.

Now I have the ability to get tears to well in my eyes which is enough for most films. However for channel 8, things need to be exaggerated a little more. So I need to be tear- drenched….. and in dramas, there is no time for you to get into character.

So you can guess how stressed I was. I had to pull out every trick from my repertoire:

One of my tricks is to use past experiences but I realized I am very good at shutting out traumatic experiences from memory, such that when I want to draw experiences and parallels to help me emote, I drew a blank… I had to really dig up old skeletons from he closet to remember those days.
If I look out via the side of my eyes, I can get tears to well up, but this is a little harder is I wear contacts….
If I mimic the act of crying, I can also sometimes get the tears to start flooding my eyes.
Like I mentioned, there is no time on set to get into character, so as soon as I left Mediacorp and was on the bus, I already started to get into character and kept up all the way while they were setting up the funeral parlor. I think I spent one hour getting into the mood.

N it helps that this prop was right in front of me…. (Shhhh I'm not gonna say who was lying in the coffin)) All I can say is, wow it really took a lot of out me to shoot this scene. At least now the hardest scene is over.

On a side note - Incidentally some friends were saying i should just prepare an onion and peel it before I need to cry... Much easier! Hahahaha

Yeah I managed to get more behind the scenes pics for my latest project…

Me being briefed by the director before all the swordfighting sequences...

Hahahaha all the fight scenes are only a few sentences long but they translated to the longest sequences that we had to film in the show

I dunno how those ppl in fighting shows keep their swords in scabbards behind their backs. I was trying to do it here and I just kept screwing it up hahahaha. My arms too long...

And the last pic where we are all posing candidly is very interesting. Its like some poster for a play where ppl from different walks of life meet! I love the sword (although I really destroyed it after all the slashing!)

Freaking pervert actor!

Previously there was one incident in the sauna where this guy touched me inappropriately. N ewwwwww I found out that the pervert is also an actor in the 9pm drama.

I still remember the look he gave me and the stuff he did. So disgusting and humsup lor. I heard from my friend that this guy always go to the gym to cruise for fresh targets. So happens that I was so suay to be the latest prey. Anyway I hope I dun have to act with him. I think I will write down what he did in a friends only entry…

This weekend I spent working on a new short film.
And thanks to Laura who introed me to try it, I got to do something exceedingly rare for local productions!

I got to be a swordsman. Yup yup, with my very own katana. Best of all its not period drama, it’s in the vein of DMC. So that’s why I get to dress like this, my incredibly tight corset-like top and sport very “Cloud/Vergil” hair.

I wonder how much wax and spray I used recently to keep my gravity-defying hairdo. Hahahahaha I am actually still surprised I can fit into this top, I think I am testing the limits of the lycra material hahahaha! The only bad thing is that the sun was so strng I now have very bad tanlines - like bra straps hahahahaha. I better skip any topless shots for now.... not suitable until i fix my panda bear bra tanlines!

Anyway it was really fun to get to do all those anime moves. There are some really fancy moves I got to try as well as some special effects that I am so looking forward to seeing in the final product.

How many ppl ever been in this situation - Being arrested by yourself?

It just happened to me today. I was doing a scene for a new drama where I’m a beng who’s very involved in gambling. So I was playing with Zzen and Hei Long when the police burst in on us.

And I noticed that one of the CID was wearing a CID pass with my face!!!!! Yup it’s my prop from last year’s 迷图 where I was playing Ping Hui’s CID Partner – Ah Cheng.

Wahhhhh talk about coincidence. Hahahahahah it feels so much like Face Off!

The Long day - Nic n Claris Wedding

It was a long night of hectic filming on Friday and hahahaha I think I was looking half-dead most of the night…

Anyway straight after filming I rushed off to Nic’s place to be his brother at his wedding. Yup, my first taste at being a brother. I dun have any pics yet cos Nic and Claris aren’t releasing the pics online.

Yup so I got saboed…. Hmmm wasabi laced bittergourd actually was quite tasty…. I hope there are no pics of my pathetic dancing.

I got to say Claris gown was stunning. A train that is even longer than I am tall. The church floors became so clean in her aftermath. Heeeeee the church wedding was so touching. I was very happy to see my friends finally tie the knot after so long.

I’ll talk abt my first time being a wedding planner for the dinner in another entry….

Anyway I made this game for them. Yeah it’s based on the trials and tribulations a couple would go to get married. Chronicling 4 stages – courtship, wedding prep, the wedding day itself and the honeymoon. I hope Nic and Claris enjoy this little pressie!

Heee now my friends can have a personalized wedding game to remember their big day!

The windswept look…. Hahahah I dun see why ppl say I got androgynous look.

It’s still a guy with long hair only :) Hee should I continue to spot this hairstyle?

But anyway this look is only for our current filming.... so I'm more or less done with my wig! Whew I dunno how ppl can stand wearing wigs, so tight and hot! The only thing fun about it is we have fun remarking about how za bor we all look with long tresses.

I have my himbo moments.

I managed to find time for a swim earlier and I wasn’t sure if I had packed my swimwear in my bag. (Usually I have it in my bag just in case but today I brought my other bag out.)

Thankfully I managed to find my trunks. And then I realized one thing…. Subconsciously I had actually come up with names for my trunks!

“Scandal”

Retro games afternoon!

Met up with Nic amd Claris over the weekend for the rehearsal for their big day. I had to do the march-in to check the timing and wow it feels weird doing a runway walk after so long (make that a red carpet runway walk, in a church no less).

Anyway after that we headed over to Nic’s place where we got to play some really old retro games. The first was Holiday.

Hahaha anyone remembers it? The game where u go on a roadtrip around a map and just stay alive in the midst of your family's incessant spending! It turns out this game was designed in the year we were born. Anyway it’s a nice light game, a lot can be done to make a new updated version of it. Will think about it.

Also we played Pictionary. The most funny case was when Nic drew a girl and a bear in a bed.

Glenn got it correct – he guessed Teddy Bear. The word that came out of my mind was Bestiality. Oh no….. I got too many things on my mind now!

The Signature Walk

Met up with Ju yesterday and since we were both alumni from the same pageant, of cos we remarked about how interesting pageants are nowadays.

Anyway we started remarking about the stuff we were taught during our pageant. All the classes about improving your image and how much we returned to our teacher Cale. And we came to the topic of my signature walk:

Yes yes I am said to be guilty of having a certain style of walking. According to Ju, who sounds exactly like an ANTM judge, he analyzed my walk and came up with the following points:

I have a very straight posture.
But unlike ppl whose shoulders move, my top is practically not moving.
Only my legs move, so I look like I’m gliding.
And my about-turn is very, very sharp.

So he came up with the name for my signature walk – “The Dolly” cos my gliding style of walking looks like I’m being pushed on a dolly!

Add a smoke machine and I’ll look like a ghost sliding through the mist!

Starry Starry Night Last Ep
